A Hotel nestling by the Parque Natural de Los Alcornocales, at Hotel Castellar, you’ll be amongst the largest oak tree groves on the Iberian Peninsula and one of the most important in the world.
The Parque Natural de los Alcornocales has a unique and jungle-like subtropical microclimate that lends itself to adventure. The park’s beautiful woods remain mostly virgin, affording a myriad of wildlife sightings, with animals such as deer and fallow deer, as well as thousands of soaring birds crossing the Strait of Gibraltar as they embark upon their annual migration.
The activities, however, aren’t only related to nature. The park also has a cultural side, with several caves whose walls are covered in Neanderthal rock paintings, or picturesque villages that came to life during the Arab reign.
The village itself, Castellar de la Frontera, has been declared an Artistic Historic Monument, and its surroundings provide several exciting activities – travel in time along the route of the white villages, windsurf in Tarifa, sample fresh fish coming from Barbate or watch the sun set in Zahara de los Atunes.
